Cheesy Baked Ziti

Submitted by Miranda on May 8, 2008 – 4:38 pmNo Comment

I’ve been working on putting together a 30 day menu to help make grocery shopping easier and to help save money. But I need a few more meals that we love and the kids love so I began my search for more recipes. I’ve made Ziti before but in the other recipes I’ve tried you didn’t have to cook the noddles first. While that was easy it didn’t actually taste better and sometimes I would run across the occasional crunch of a noodle that hadn’t been cooked right.. that REALLY bugs me! Nothing worse than crunchy noodles mixed into your pasta.

This is the yummiest baked ziti I’ve ever made and it’s simple with just 5 ingredients and it makes a lot. I found this recipe on the FamilyFun.com website.

Cheesy Baked Ziti
1 lb. dried ziti
15 or 16 oz. ricotta cheese (part skim)
3 C. spaghetti sauce
3 C. (or 26 oz. jar spaghetti sauce)
1/2 C. Parmesan Cheese

Heat oven to 350 degrees.

Cook Ziti according to package directions and drain.

Place ziti in a large bowl and mix with Ricotta & half of the mozzarella.

Grease a 9×13″ dish. Spread 1/2 the spaghetti sauce on bottom of pan.

Add ziti mixture and cover with remaining sauce. Sprinkle with parmesan and remaining mozzarella.

Bake uncovered 20-30 minutes until casserole bubbles on edges.

My daughter loved this and my son had 3 bowls. He’s 5 years younger than she is, it always amazes me what a little oinker he can be for such a skinny kid! lol
