Free Felt Food Tutorial and Pattern – Frosted Sugar Cookies w/ Sprinkles

Submitted by Miranda on December 17, 2008 – 5:17 pm7 Comments

In 2008 I made both of my children a HUGE set of felt food. My son was getting his first play kitchen and while roaming the stores I realized there had to be something funner (and cuter) and potentially safer to play with out there and my search was on. It was then that I found felt food pictures online and instantly fell in love. For my son I made him everything that he would need for his toy kitchen and then some; carrots, green beans, green onions, tomatoes, a loaf of bread, pizza with different toppings, 6 felt eggs which I placed in a real egg carton, potatoes, chicken drumsticks, a felt grocery bag, ravioli and spaghetti noodles with sauce and so much more I can’t even list it all. Because I had so much fun making this felt food I knew my daughter would also love to join in the fun and I got the idea to make her a whole baking set and snack shop set. I began making her felt cakes, cookies, doughnuts, cupcakes, baking supplies, decorating supplies, felt candies, EVERYTHING a little girl might need to play bakery! While I’d purchased a few patterns I also enjoyed making a couple of my own as well. Here you’ll find a tutorial with pattern included on making some adorable felt sugar cookies with sprinkles.

These are so easy even a beginner can do this! You’re children will really enjoy helping you too. If you need help with the whip stitch I found a wonderful tutorial HERE. Have fun baking up some super cute cookies for your children to play with!

FUN IDEA: Glue a small piece of felt to a wooden spoon to look like batter. That way your little ones can “stir” their cookies.
