Some comfort - u are not alone! My 2 year old is very similar to yours and oh how sometimes I wish to hide. But then we get home and he is so funny that i forget about all his naughty behavior. We call him our comedian - he truly is. But if he does not get his way - watch out world. He, too, does not speak much at all and is finally started to say some words and sentences all of a sudden but still those temper tantrums are enough to make me wanna hide too!

((HUGS))

Someone just gave me a new word TWO-berty n: the temporary phase to which you attribute a two-year-old's screaming temper tantrums.

I've written a book, Temper Tantrum Common Sense Handbook covering how to prevent, stop, and live with tantrums.

As you noted, part of the problem is a lack of vocabulary and that can be very frustrating to a toddler. And to a toddler's parents.

You've seen your son get upset when you're shopping. Is it just when he's late for his nap? Is it being in public always? Is it possible to hire a baby sitter or trade sitting services with the parent of another toddler so each of you can go shopping alone?

I'd say toddlers and parents survive the temper tantrums in 99.99% of the time. Maybe even more. Just hang in there and love those adorable moments. They're priceless.

Judy Colbert
TuffTurtle.com/tantrums.htm

LOL - I can't help but laugh! My youngest is 5 now, and I REALLY don't miss the 2's, although I thought the 3's were worse. I am sure that is the last thing you want to hear though. Just keep remembering the good stuff - there will always be bad stuff! Trust me - my 13 year old still needs to be dragged out of a store and given a swat on the butt at times! LOL! Although grounding him from the computer is much more effective at this point.

I so know what you are going through. I have a 2 yr old myself, and though he is talking ....still doesn't make life any easier!! And he isn't afraid of heights, so you know what I go through constantly. LOL! I know that prayer...I said the same one when I was pregnant with my daughter, except knowing that she was a girl, I asked God to make her strong and independent, and have the abiltiy to speak her mind and not to cave into the ways the world wants her to think she has to be....BOY did I get what I wanted on that one....word for word. I was blessed with 3 children and I choose not to ask for anything else again! LOL! They say what doesn't kill us only makes us stronger, right!!!
