So Long Mullet-y Hair!

Submitted by Miranda on March 5, 2009 – 4:20 pm27 Comments

About 2 or 3 weeks ago I got a haircut. It wasn’t my favorite haircut but I didn’t truly hate it until about 3 days later. It stopped being cooperative and started looking a lot less layered and more mullet-y.. is that even a word? Oh well! It is now! LOL But I’m WAY too vain to be sporting a mullet so the mullet HAD to go! Like NOW! I was trying to patiently wait until we had a decent payday but I couldn’t take it anymore. It’s no fun to wake up every day and actually dread doing your hair.

Seriously, it was the worst haircut ever. The layers weren’t blended very well and it looked as if you could just cut it chin length it would be perfect. So that’s what I did. I went in, told them to get rid of my horrible and embarrassing haircut and just chop it off up to my chin and add a little more volume in the back. The hairstylist kinda chuckled when I told her to get rid of the mullet but she agreed that it was mullet-y and she also wanted it GONE. It looks SO much better now! What was I thinking not getting this mommy haircut to begin with?! I have no idea, but I feel like a brand new woman. Now I don’t have to be self-conscious about my mullet-y hair! Woo hoo! So long mullet! Hello mommy haircut, I LOVE YOU!

So, what do you think? Was I right to ditch my too-many-layers-mullety haircut? What’s the worst haircut you’ve ever had?

The new do is adorable!! I have to say my worst hair is a toss up between an unfortunate “mushroomy” type haircut I had in HS or the 6″ high puffy bangs I had previous to the mushroom cut…ugh, they both make me shudder to think of them!

  • Blessings Abound says:

I love the cut! It’s very flattering to your pretty face!:)

  • Trish says:

I don’t think I ever saw a before picture, but I love your new cute. Very cute!

My worst haircut? Hmm…probably when my mom used to cut my hair and half of my head was bangs. Or how about when I chopped my hair off and the girl tried to do an A-line cut, but the shortest layers were on the side, so it was lopsided.

Perfect and completely lacking in all mullet-like qualities!

  • BrandyEllen says:

Great job! I have been trying to figure out what to do with my hair, love the LONG hair because I can pull it up fast, with three little ones I often go for “easy do” versus actually “working my do”…lol

    Great look for you!

  • Chichiboulie says:

In a sense, it’s a good thing you did get a mullet to start because if not, you may have never had this cut and it looks fabulous on you!!

  • ParentingPink says:

Awww! I love it. I don’t think it looks “mullety” at all!

  • Sara says:

I think it looks so cute! I want to get a haircut so bad before BlogHer, but am worried of getting a hack job. :) I love the feeling I get after leaving the salon… here’s wishing a good “after hair cut” day!

  • Kimberly says:

Didn’t see the before but this is a nice haircut. I want to get a major haircut so bad, but then I back out….My hair is past my bra straps. I also fear someone messing it up and me having to then cut it even shorter.

  • ScrappyGypsy says:

    LOVE IT!!!!

  • Mommy Cracked says:

I think it looks fantastic. I wish I could pull off a cute ‘do like that!

  • Court says:

Looks great, though I don’t really think the other one was a mullet, however I never fared well with layers either.

  • Bloggymommy says:

Looks great! I got 6″ taken off my hair about 3 weeks ago too. I was tired of looking 12 walking around with 3 kids! No matter what you do to your hair though…you’re still gonna be gorgeous! ;)
