Getting Ready For Blogher 09- Do You Poken?

As most of you know, this July I’ll be going to Blogher 2009. I’ve been gradually getting everything that I’m going to need while I’m there since I was sure I was going to be able to attend. Over the next couple of months I’ll be writing about what I’m bringing along with me, and then when it’s closer to the time to go I’ll be vlogging while I pack, the trip itself (should be funny, remember how I’m terrified of heights?) and then I’ll be vlogging as many of my experiences as possible and writing live posts while at Blogher. I won’t be leaving you guys in the dust, you’ll find lots of Blogher updates on Keeper of the Cheerios!

poken_howitworksOne of the things I’m really excited to bring with me is my new Poken. Don’t know what a Poken is? Don’t worry, I didn’t know until about 2 months ago what it is either. Basically, you plug this nifty little contraption right into your computer with the USB connector, download any information that you want to share, such as name, email, address, URL.. or anything else you desire to share with others that you’re networking with. Basically, it enables you to set up an online business card. Speaking of networking, you can also set up the networking sites that you’re a part of.. the options list is HUGE! There’s at least 33 different social networking sites you can link your information to:

  • Ameba
  • Badoo
  • Bahu
  • Bebo
  • Facebook
  • Flickr
  • Friendster
  • Glocals
  • Gree
  • Hi5
  • Hyves
  • IBM Profiles
  • LinkedIn
  • MeinVz
  • Mixi
  • MySpace
  • Netlog
  • Ning
  • Orkut
  • Plaxo
  • Schuelervz
  • Skyrock
  • SmartFm
  • Spoke
  • Viadeo
  • Xing
  • Wer-Kennt-Wen
  • Studiverzeichnis
  • The Quad
  • Tuenti
  • Twitter
  • Us Gang
  • Skype
  • Yahoo Messenger
  • And MORE!!!

poken_samplecardAfter you’ve added all of the information you want to include, you also have the option of adding a personalized background for your virtual card’s background. Sharing your information with others is really easy! When you’re ready to share your information with other Poken users, you simply touch your Poken’s hands together for about 2 seconds and they exchange information. No more bulky business cards as this allows you to share more information AND it is so small it can fit right into your pocket! When you’re ready to download information that you’ve gotten from others, you simply plug your Poken back into your computer.

The Poken is one of the coolest new social networking tools you can find and makes organizing your new contacts really easy. The best part is that you can find these for under $20 on Start Poken .com and you’ll find a wide selection of Pokens so you’re sure to find one that you love.

My little panda poken is all set up and ready to go! I can’t wait to meet everyone who’s a Poken user at Blogher!
