My Dad

Submitted by Miranda on June 21, 2009 – 12:03 pmNo Comment

mydad This is a picture of my dad taken with my little brother 2 years ago at Christmas time. It’s one of my favorites, I’m not sure why. I think it’s because when I look at this picture I realize where I got quite a bit of my features from.. my chin, my nose (although mine is much more girly) and I can’t forget my forehead. Growing up and even still my dad worked a lot but often times on weekends he would take me with him and we’d be off to do whatever his favorite hobby of the time was. Because of my dad I love to fish, and while I have NO idea what I’m doing or what colors I’m technically supposed to be using I could tie the cutest pink and purple fly you’ve ever seen a fly-fisherman use. He used to take me on countless golf outings and I even had my own golf clubs. I haven’t been golfing in a long time but I bet I could still hold my own. I also owe all of my artistic abilities to him and oddly I think I might have inherited his strange humor, too. I have fond memories of grossing my dad out at the dinner table by talking about burps, farts, or anything that came to mind while me and my sisters were young. I remember the support I had from my parents the day that I had my daughter at the young age of 16.. and the tear in his eyes when he came into the room to hold my daughter for the first time. He might not always be perfect but this is the man that raised me, provided for us, and dealt with our annoying behaviors. Dad, I’m sorry for being a naughty little child and stealing your remote, grossing you out at the dinner table, and costing you more money than any one child should. I love you dad!
