oatmeal kiss cookies

My daughter and I made these delicious cookies from Taste of Home last weekend. They’re definitely a family-favorite now, even my picky husband loved them.

Oatmeal Kiss Cookies

1/2 C. butter, softened

1/2 C. shortening

1 C. sugar

1 C. packed brown sugar

2 eggs

2 C. all-purpose flour

1 tsp. baking soda

1 tsp. salt

2-1/4 C. quick-cooking oats

1 C. nuts (I left these out and they turned out great still)

about 72 milk chocolate kisses

In a large bowl, cream the butter, shortening and sugars until the mixture is light and fluffy. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Combine the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to the creamed mixture and mix well. Stir in oats and nuts (if you’re using the nuts). Roll into 1-inch balls and place 2 inches apart on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 10-12 minutes or until lightly browned. After removing from oven immediately place a chocolate kiss into the center of each cookie and remove to wire cooling racks.
