At least you know now and can deal with it. Honestly, he will be just fine. The technology they have now is amazing. My almost 4yo daughter is very well adjusted with her hearing aids. I am not sure but I think you may want to look into cochlear implants.

To make this a little easier for him – I would show him that hearing aids can be fun. Let him pick out the color of the ear molds, they make some tube riders and other “ear gear”

When going through this please don’t let the docs forget about the FM System – he will need it for story time and sports.

We are in the process of deciding between Phonak and Oticon hearing aids for my 12 week old son. My daughter has both and likes her Oticon’s better. She claims she can hear better with them even though they are programmed the same.

Please, please, please contact me with any questions. If I don’t have an answer I have a whole network of people that I could ask.

I definitely understand the mommy guilt.

I cannot imagine either when he can hear everything like he is supposed. What an amazing feeling that will be for him!

I can totally understand mommy guilt-all moms suffer from it! I am so glad that you got answers though and that your son will get the help he needs. He will be fine–especially since he has an awesome mom like you! Hugs to you both!
