My daughter had to get glasses last week and upon wearing them to school for the first time at least 5 kids said she “looked like a nerd” to her face.. even her good friends said mean things. I could tell my daughter was hurt so I told her she only had to wear them when she needed to see the board during class time. She said, “But I like to see everything ALL the time. I’m not a nerd, I just want to see better.” She got up the next morning and went to school.. in her glasses. Brave girl huh? I’m so proud of her.

She hardly takes them off now and every so often she says, "Wow! I can see leaves on the trees!"

Those are absolutely adorable!!!!
Oh, she’s beautiful! And the glasses are adorable.
I think she looks great! I can’t believe how mean kids can be, so ridiculous!
Good for her!! Aww..that is sad that kids were rude, especially her friends. Maybe they’re just jealous because of how cute she looks in them!
Good for her.
She looks adorable in those glassy.
Very chic glasses!!!!
She is a brave girl!! GOOD FOR HER!! And she’s a beautiful girl who should be proud of herself for standing up for herself!!! I LOVE THE GLASSES!!
I love it! She’s confident in herself and knows better than to listen to ‘mean’ kids. Sounds like a strong girl you’ve raised, good job!
..oh and she looks BEAUTIFUL!
Both my girls wear glasses.. my youngest (10) just for reading, and my oldest (almost 12) all the time. My oldest started junior high this year and begged for contacts because she wanted ‘a new look’. She’s been wearing glasses since 3rd grade. But we had to make sure she would be responsible enough to care for them (and her eyes). Turns out she is.. but they are sort of a hassle, and sometimes she wears her glasses just to give herself a break.
Anyway.. I’m sorry some kids teased your girl, but I think she looks really cute!
Here’s a comeback you can tell her to use on people that call her a nerd, tell her to say “Be kind to the people you call nerds, you’ll be working for us some day, so you’d better be nice to me while we’re kids” or some variation of that. If you’re wondering how I found this blog, I found it through Google somehow, but after that story I just felt like I had to comment.
