Meet My Husband

Submitted by Jonathan on October 6, 2009 – 1:35 pm4 Comments

Meet my husband. The man who I love, the man who drives me completely bonkers, and the man my children practically worship.

Miranda tells me that for me to put anything on her blog, I must formally introduce myself to the World Wide Web and the blogosphere. So, here it goes……

My name is Jonathan, I am the Husband/Father behind the scenes who pays for the Cheerios that my kids get to eat, it is a never ending cycle! I am of the ripe old age of 27 although I feel like I am 50 (you’ll understand as you get to know me). My wife has been fortunate enough to be married to me for the last 7 years (kidding, I am the lucky one). As you all know we have the two best kids in the world, and every time either of them does something naughty or gross, they miraculously become only my children.

I am a “PK” (Preacher’s Kid) and I have gone to church as long as I can remember and I have a very large family, so big that when we would attend a new church, the youth group grew 30%. It took Miranda more than 3 years to decipher how I was related to who and how I could have an Aunt from my mom’s side married to an Uncle from my dad’s side, yeah it is complicated! No we’re not rednecks (although that could be argued) and no, nothing weird is going on.

When I was 5 years old I seriously believed that I could fly like Superman! I proceeded to run down the length of my Dad’s work truck and jump into the air full Superman style and quickly realized the effects of gravity and did a face plant into the asphalt causing me to go unconscious. My Dad yells at my older brother for pushing me as my brother replies, “I didn’t touch him! He Jumped!” I prefer the term “flew” (even if it was only for a second) but again that is arguable! This seems to be the theme for the years ahead, “don’t look before you jump, never say die, what do you mean I can’t fly? and the super optimistic glass is half full philosophy.” My wife would like to add stubborn! She insisted!

I look forward to sharing with you the stories of my other 3 concussions, my insights to the financial world (oh yeah, I work in the financial industry), parenting from the male perspective and anything else my wife wants me to write about.
