I know many people aren’t thinking about Christmas shopping quite yet but in my family we start shopping and saving for Christmas early and I know that we aren’t entirely alone in being a family that plans ahead. I’m sure that many of you do the same. For those of us who like to plan ahead and start saving Sears & Kmart have a new Christmas Club Card. Here’s some of the basic information about this program…
By using the Christmas Club card, customers can put aside some funds on a regular basis through November 14 and add value to this unique gift card- and receive a special reward. When activated between now and October 31, Christmas Club card users will earn a 3% reward – up to a maximum of $100 – based on the value they have on November 14th. As with all Sears and Kmart gift cards, there are no fees associated with the Christmas Club card, and the value on the card will not expire.
Is that not really awesome? I think that this is not only a great way to set aside your holiday spending money (and be rewarded for doing so) but it can also be a teaching experience to let your children see just how “saving” really works. For example,
“One customer brought in her two daughters, ages 6 & 7, with their piggy banks. The daughters, with the help of their mom, activated two Christmas Club cards valued at $8 and $12. The customer said she was teaching her daughters about saving and “investing”.
Because of these tough economic times I know that many of us are concerned about how we’re going to pay for Christmas gifts for our families but this is why planning ahead is so important and the Sears/Kmart Christmas Club Card helps you to get more bang for your buck. My little kid is about grown up. She wants a digital camera of her own. We also purchase toys for the toy drives locally. I think we have more fun doing that then buying for each other!
