Holiday Toy Shopping Made Easier With These 2 Resources!
The Toy Industry Association has just recently launched two new websites, Toyinfo.org and ToyAwards.org. Both of which are a wonderful resource to us parents. If you want to find out what the coolest toys are this season in a variety of categories you’ll love ToyAwards.org which showcases 81 top toys that have been nominated for the 2010 Toy of the Year Awards (TOTY). There you’ll be able to find out what toy industry experts think about the toys and with their new feature you can cast your votes for your favorite toy picks of the year. Right now you can also easily register to win a prize package from your chosen category. I casted my votes for our favorite toys and we even have a few of the toys that have been nominated under our Christmas tree this year and they’re just waiting for my kids to open them. What I find even funnier is that my kids were asking for most of these toys long before they were even nominated or we knew that they would be some of the hottest toys of the season. I agree with the lists and believe you’ll find some really great gift ideas by browsing the ToyAwards.org website. To make toy shopping easy featured on the website you’ll find a free downloadable gift shopping list which you can take to the store with you and it can help guide you in selecting the most innovative and fun toys this holiday season.
My personal favorite of the two websites is ToyInfo.org. There is just so much info to take in while visiting this site. You’ll find helpful tips for choosing the right toys for your little ones, informative videos, free downloadable play guides, a forum to discuss toy and safe play questions, and a TON of information that will help parents and caregivers alike. Another feature that I’m in love with is their Recall and Safety Information section because it not only includes the names of the toys and the manufacturer, but it also has the reason the toys have been recalled, and (my favorite part) a picture of the toys next to each recall listing making it REALLY easy to tell if you own any of the toys that may be extremely unsafe to have around your children. While you’re visiting the ToyInfo website be sure to sign up to receive automatic recall alerts so you also know the latest information when it comes to keeping your children safe. More content will be coming soon including an episode that will feature “The Moms of Toy Safety” – basically a roundtable discussion of moms and grandparents who are also toy industry safety professionals. I’ve actually bookmarked this website so I can come back to it throughout the year. As a mom I think it’s important to always know the latest when it comes to our kids, their toys, and ultimately their safety. I think you’ll find the Toy Info website to be a good resource for your family as well.
