My Thoughts on a Brand New Year & My New Years Resolutions
I’d be lying if I said I loved New Years. In fact, I really think I hate it. I hate leaving behind the years that have been so amazing but I’m thankful for the new memories that each year seems to bring. I look at New Years like I do my birthday.. it’s just another reminder that I’m getting older, that time is going way too fast, and that my kids are growing up way faster than I’d like them to. It’s also another reminder that I’m no good with New Years Resolutions and that’s why most years I just don’t bother. However this year I’m going to try. So here goes…
My Personal 2010 Goals:
- I’m going to lose 10 pounds this year and tone up my stomach, my tush, and whatever this flabby thing is that is going on with my arms and thighs. It’s depressing. I’m not fat, but I’m certainly not looking the way I’d like to.
- I’m going to stop drinking 2 sodas a day.. or I’m at least going to switch to diet dr. pepper. I’ll be the first to say I’m a little addicted to the caffeine and I’m not yet willing to give up the one thing that gives me some sort of energy to make it through my day. I figure if I aim low I’ll stick with it, right? I wish I could just eat what I want and just stay skinny but since having my hysterectomy it’s close to impossible.
- I’m going to eat more fruits and veggies and less of those darn Paydays and Milky Ways that keep calling my name.
2010 Goals For My Family:
- I’m going to spend less time telling my kids to be quiet and more time joining in their noisy fun. Even if I have a headache.
- I’m going to have them both to school on time every day. Even if this means not showering or brushing my hair until I get back home.. the other moms do that so why can’t I?
- We’re going to watch less television and spend more time as a family. This includes not using the television as a babysitter.
2010 Goals For My Marriage:
- I might try to nag a little less. Do you know how HARD it is not to nag when your hormones are completely out of whack? It’s HARD! Almost to the point of uncontrollable.. but I’m going to try! Just don’t tell him that because there’s a pretty good chance I’ll fail quite a bit along the way.
- Date nights will happen more often. I hate trying to find a babysitter but my marriage is important and we need our adult time. I really do love going to dinner and the movies.
I can’t make any promises that all of this will come to pass but I will definitely try and if anything this is the year I tone up and start eating a little healthier than I have over the past few years. What are your New Years resolutions and are you good at reaching those goals typically? What are your plans for tonight?

I usually do not set resolutions, because like most I never accomplish them. I did however set blog resolutions this year so and since it’s my 13th month blogging in January I hope to stick to those resolutions.
SO I wasn’t the only one getting kids to school late?! My DD had to start taking the bus, as much as I despise this idea it was simply impossible for me to get the two boys ready and her ready on time, I tried and tried but after getting lectured from her 1st grade teacher last year, I had to place her on the bus for I just wasn’t able to do the “one time” thing with three kids
Happy New Year, I am sitting home playing games with my 7 year old daughter and husband then watching ball drop on ABC
The two boys are sleeping as they are VERY routine driven and so keeping them up til midnight would not only be hazardous for our sanity but wouldn’t do them any good!
Those are great goals for 2010. Wishing you all the best. Happy New Year!
■I’m going to spend less time telling my kids to be quiet and more time joining in their noisy fun. Even if I have a headache. – haha! I give that one 2 days tops!!
Otherwise they all sound very doable!
Happy new Year Miranda!!!
I wish you luck with your resolutions. I want to lose 20 pounds that might be a little more than I should but that’s my goal
Great goals – really like how you broke them down by life ‘area’.
One goal we’re trying to help women with this year is to not be stuck in baggy clothes when they’re losing weight!!! Did you see the style makeover we did on Jennifer from themomsalon.com? She is such an inspiration – http://ow.ly/TKVX
