Little Moments Like These

Submitted by Miranda on January 29, 2010 – 10:10 am4 Comments

I miss my little boy when I take him to preschool. However, I love taking him to school. “Why?” You ask. Because when it’s time to pick him up he sees me and screams “MOMMY!”, gets the biggest smile on his face that I’ve ever seen, runs to me with arms wide open reaching out and then he flies into my arms giving me the biggest bear hug I’ve ever had.

It lets me know that I must be doing something right if my three year old is that excited to see me EVERY single day. These are the moments we moms live for and the memories we never forget.

Making the decision to have a child is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body.

I’m reminded of a sweet song that came out a few years ago called “Let Them Be Little” It’s a great reminder to just let our children be children and to enjoy these sweet moments we have with them.

  • I have to admit I love when they go to school because the house is quiet, lol! I am always amazed that they love coming home to me. I am there when they get off the bus and they wouldn’t have it any other way, which makes me feel happy that I am able to be there for them every day. I love that song too!

  • Aw, I cant wait to have these moments with my littlest one. =)

Awwww tears! Today when I picked up Finley from grandparents he walked fast to me and then put his arms up and gave me 10 kisses on the mouth! It was WONDERFUL. He rarely kisses.

The BEST! Sometimes I get a little tug of sadness when he jets off the second he gets to the classroom with a “bye mommaaaaayy” and no look back or hug. But then, I love the fact that he’s excited to be there with his buddies. And you are SO right about the pick up. There is nothing better than seeing his pure delight at 11:30 when it’s time to go home with me.

Thanks for reminding me of that quote from Elizabeth Stone. It’s so true.
